I have been teaching English at Woodsville High School for going on nine years. I teach mostly English 9, along with a few electives (including this one!).
Generate a list of ideas that people might want to research for their independent research papers. Keep in mind that your paper should be about three pages!

here are a few of my ideas:
-a trip you want to take someday -an injury that you or someone you know has experienced that you would like to learn about -a favorite food (maybe it's history) -sports -a favorite animal -global warming *affects on the Earth *what it is *how it will affect New England -a favorite history detail -recylcling -favorite language *maybe where it originated *where it's spoken -immigration -presidential election
those are just a few for now that i've thought of Em =D

jackie has some really good ideas that got me thinking about a few more ideas:
-WHY we are in global warming and what we should be doing to help prevent it, or better yet CAN we help prevent it? -why people were attempting to stopthe torch for the Olympics. -a person you look up to maybe you could interview them... -a college you would like to go to -yoga =D -why eating certain foods are good for you and others arent -why water is so important for a healthy body
i'm doing my research paper on the KKK, it was the only idea that i could come up with that i might be interested in. I already did a paper on like an animal, a famous person, and the people of Africa. This year, it's time to learn everything there is to learn about the KKK
emily and jackie both had an idea about the olympics; however, no one wrote about the olympics haha i don't think there are very many things to go about talking about them. This year a lot of people like the people in charge or savedarfur.org are trying to get bush to stop the olympics i believe. People in the world need to pay attention to what's going on.
At first i was so lost on what i could write for this project. I had no idea. After reading other peoples ideas, well mostly Em, seems how she was the only one other then me to write something at the time, it came to me. Emily said she was writing something about a vacation she would like to go on, it made me think of countries. Then i just decided to write about Japan! Its better then what i thought it was going to be
